Providing workspace for Advisory Service
The aim of the project is to provide a fish industry resource, information and training centre for all sectors of the Cornish Fish Industry. This will be used to stimulate the development of skills and knowledge to support local industries and increase employment opportunities for local people.
The first step was to convert and update a building in the heart of the Cornish Fishing Industry to provide a point of access for training / re-training and a wide range of information and advice to facilitate the creation of jobs and improve / safeguard existing employment.
Within this the project has achieved its purpose in 3 key ways:
- To hold information on a range of sources of relevance to the fishing industry and wider fishing communities
- It will also provide access to IT equipment for informal training and for sourcing information using the internet
- It will work with individuals and SME’s to establish training skill needs and co-ordinate courses to meet these needs
Project completed and site opened on 24th August 2005.
