Build Project
A new visitor centre, including a shop, café and lecture theatre, improved ICT, interpretation, toilet facilities and disabled access was completed in the summer of 2004. Aim to increase visitor numbers into shoulder season. Three main objectives; improve quality of tourism product (increase visitors and spend), extend the season (particularly aimed at education group and environment tourists), increase environmental awareness (improved educational facilities to increase visits).
The building is a single storey timber frame structure of neutral colour to minimise environmental impact. It was built to a specification which gave high energy efficiency and was fully accessible to the disabled.
